Is This The Right Fit?

Quick check: should you be calling us?

Some rides are perfect for LumityCare. Others are better handled another way. Here's the line, so you don't have to guess.

Yes — call us if…

  • Your loved one needs to get to a medical appointment
  • You can't drive them yourself (or shouldn't have to every time)
  • They use a cane, walker, or wheelchair
  • Rideshare feels too risky for the level of care they need
  • You want a real person coordinating — not just an app
  • The ride needs to be booked in advance with confidence
  • You want to be notified at pickup, arrival, and return

Not quite — try something else if…

  • The trip isn't medical (we don't do general errands or social rides)
  • It's a true emergency — please call 911 instead
  • Your loved one needs hands-on medical care during transit
  • The trip is well outside Greater Chicagoland (call us first — we may still help with a long-distance quote)
  • You need stretcher or bariatric transport (we don't offer that level)

If you're experiencing a medical emergency, call 911.

Find Your Situation

Tell us what's going on. We'll show you how it'd work.

Click the situation that fits, and we'll show you exactly what a ride looks like for it — frequency, what's included, and what to do next.

Routine medical care for an aging parent

Doctor visits, lab work, eye exams, follow-ups — the steady rhythm of staying on top of someone's health.

What we'd typically do

  • Pick them up at their door (apartment, condo, single family — we navigate it)
  • Walk with them to the vehicle, assist into the seat
  • Drive to the appointment with time built in for traffic
  • Help them inside the building & check them in if needed
  • Pick them up at a scheduled return time and bring them home

Frequency & cost

Frequency: Whenever needed — once a month, once a quarter, or as often as the appointments come up.

Typical cost: Ambulatory rides start at $45 base, plus mileage. Wheelchair from $75 base. Written quote before every ride.

Coordination: You can book on their behalf, be cc'd on confirmations, and get notified at every step.

Communication

How families stay in the loop.

The hardest part of arranging transport for someone else is not knowing if they got there safely. We close that gap.

Driver intro before pickup

You and your loved one get a text with the driver's name and approximate arrival time — no mystery faces at the door.

Pickup confirmation

Once your loved one is safely in the vehicle, you get a notification — so you know the day is on track.

Arrival at the appointment

When they're inside and checked in, you'll hear from us. Especially helpful when you're at work or out of town.

Home-safe notification

And after the return trip — confirmation that they're back inside their own home, settled, and the day is done.

Direct line to dispatch

Any questions, changes, or "what's their ETA?" calls go straight to a real person — not an app, not a 1-800 number.

You can be on the booking call

Adult children often handle the logistics. We're happy to coordinate with you, the patient, or both at the same time.

What's Included

What every LumityCare ride comes with.

Punctual, planned pickup

We build in buffer time and arrive before the scheduled pickup so no one is rushing.

Trained, background-checked driver

CPR/First Aid trained, vetted, and respectful of the situation they're walking into.

Clean, comfortable vehicles

Late-model sedans, SUVs, and side-loading ramp vans — sanitized between every trip.

Door-to-door assistance

From their front door to the appointment door, and back. Stairs, walkers, wheelchairs — we know what to do.

Caregiver welcome

A spouse, adult child, or aide can ride along for $15 — often well worth it for first rides or longer trips.

Written quote — always

No surprise pricing. You'll see exactly what the ride will cost before you confirm it.

Real Situations

Real situations we handle every week.

Each of these reflects a typical pattern we run for Chicagoland families. Your situation will be its own — but odds are it looks something like one of these.

Discharge ride home

Mom is being discharged this afternoon — but you can't leave work. We coordinate directly with the hospital, pick her up at the discharge door, and get her safely home.

Standing weekly schedule

Three-times-a-week dialysis

Dad's on dialysis Mon/Wed/Fri and the family is stretched thin. A standing recurring schedule means same time, same driver when possible, and 10% off every ride.

Round-trip with wait

Outpatient procedure morning

A 7 AM check-in and you can't drive her home after sedation. We drop off, wait or return at the recovery call, and bring her home — gentle ride, no rushing.

Annual specialist visit

One-off cardiologist across town

Once a year, the cardiologist is 35 minutes away. Booked, quoted, confirmed — and you don't have to take the morning off to drive.
